Dual generalized Bernstein basis

The generalized Bernstein basis in the space Πn of polynomials of degree at most n, being an extension of the q-Bernstein basis introduced recently by G.M. Phillips, is given by the formula (see S. Lewanowicz & P. Woźny, BIT 44 (2004), 63–78) Bn i (x;ω| q) := 1 (ω; q)n [ n i ] q x (ωx−1; q)i (x; q)n−i (i = 0, 1, . . . , n). We give explicitly the dual basis functions Dn k (x; a, b, ω| q) for th...

Optimality of generalized Bernstein operators

We show that a certain optimality property of the classical Bernstein operator also holds, when suitably reinterpreted, for generalized Bernstein operators on extended Chebyshev systems.

Rational Bézier Curves Approximated by Bernstein-Jacobi Hybrid Polynomial Curves

In this paper, we propose a linear method for C approximation of rational Bézier curve with arbitrary degree polynomial curve. Based on weighted least-squares, the problem be converted to an approximation between two polynomial curves. Then applying Bernstein-Jacobi hybrid polynomials, we obtain the resulting curve. In order to reduce error, degree reduction method for Bézier curve is used. A e...

A Generalization of Rational Bernstein Bézier Curves

This paper is concerned with a generalization of BernsteinBézier curves. A one parameter family of rational BernsteinBézier curves is introduced based on a de Casteljau type algorithm. A subdivision procedure is discussed , and matrix representation and degree elevation formulas are obtained. We also represent conic sections using rational q-BernsteinBézier curves.

Generalized Bernstein Polynomials and Bézier Curves: an Application of Umbral Calculus to Computer Aided Geometric Design

Bernstein polynomials and Bézier curves are of fundamental importance for Computer Aided Geometric Design (CAGD). They are used for the design of curves and they are the starting point for several generalizations: in particular to higher dimensions and to B-splines. Powerful algorithms are available for both their algebraic construction and their visualization, and their basic theory (explained...
